The Santa Marinha Design District will benefit from a direct metro connection to the center of Porto with the project for the future Rubi line. With the start of the work expected in 2023, this line constitutes a connection between Casa da Música and Santo Ovídio, with 8 new stations, one of which is the Santa Marinha Design District roundabout, plus two tunnels and a new bridge over the Douro River.
The station in the Santa Marinha Design District will be located in the center of the roundabout and will have a set of support and leisure infrastructures, as well as an underground car park.
This new metro line will also be connected to a railway interface in Devesas, with the Northern Line of CP, as well as to the future high-speed train line that will link Lisbon to Vigo.
With its completion scheduled for 2026, this project enhances sustainable mobility in the region, benefiting more than one million people. There will be another 6.3 kilometers of metro line that add social, economic and environmental benefits quantified at 900 million euros.
